"The mission of the Institute for Systems Biology is two-fold: revolutionizing biology through a systems approach; and predictive, preventive and personalized medicine. Dr. Goodlett and several researchers in the Goodlett lab began their work at ISB. As a result, the ISB is one of our key collaborators in many of our endeavors.
Most of the Goodlett Mass spectrometers are housed within the UW Medicinal Chemistry Mass Spectrometry Center. Although our instruments are not for use by the general staff and faculty of UW for scientific questions, there are several high quality MS instruments available to UW researchers for identification and characterization of proteins, peptides and small molecules.
The WWAMI (Washington , Wyoming , Alaska , Montana , Idaho ) Regional Center of Excellence (RCE) for Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases Research is one of eight regional centers established by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health, in September 2003. In collaboration with over 10 different labs in the Northwest region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Idaho, Montana) there is a general effort to understand and characterize virulence factors of infections diseases so that we can treat the general public faster and more effectively. The University of Washington School of Medicine is the lead institution in the WWAMI region, with more than ten regional partner institutions.
The Center on Human Development and Disability (CHDD) at the University of Washington makes important contributions to the lives of people with developmental disabilities and their families, through a comprehensive array of research, clinical services, training, community outreach, and dissemination activities.
The UW NIEHS Center for Ecogenetics and Environmental Health strives to understand and communicate how genetic factors influence human susceptibility to environmental health risks. Their research theme is biochemical and molecular mechanisms underlying human variability in response to environmental exposures.
The UW Center for Microbiology is one of the Goodlett Lab collaborators on the WWAMI Biodefense Project. Together we are investigating the proteomes of infectious diseases to improve our general knowledge of virulence so that we can better treat infection in the future.
The Proteomics Resource is a proteomics facility whose mission is to provide the resources to foster novel proteomics research at the University of Washington.
