1st Announcement

The 2nd Summer Course „Mass Spectrometry in Biotechnology and Medicine“ (2nd MSBM), will be held at the Center for Advanced Academic Studies (CAAS), Dubrovnik, Croatia, July 7-14, 2007. It is inspired by the success of the 1st Summer Course in 2001, attended by more than 120 scientists and students and distinguished lecturers from Europe and oversees. This course will focus on teaching and discussing modern knowledge in mass spectrometry to advanced graduate students, post-docs and scientists in the area of biochemistry, biology, molecular biology, biotechnology and medicine. The course program will pay tribute to the growing importance of mass spectrometry in life sciences from one side and to the general lack of courses in university curricula on the other. Dubrovnik is chosen again as the site due to its formidable geographic location on the Adriatic coast in Croatia, and connections to major cities in West- and East Europe. Most favorable academic conditions for lecturing and lodging facilities for participants and lecturers we will find at the Center itself. In particular, we hope to attract young life science researchers from countries of Eastern- and Southeastern Europe to attend and to meet their colleagues from other parts of the world, and discuss new concepts of current and future life science technologies.
